Details
AS1170.4:2024 sees improvements to provide clarity of existing requirements and improvements for ease of application; with a cost-neutral effect for industry.
ARBS members are anticipated to benefit from improvements to Section 8: Parts and Components with many improvements in the exemptions and the introduction of Informative appendices that should see a reduction in seismic designer imposed limitations.

Jordan was first introduced to the seismic design of non-structural elements in 2014 through a chance encounter with the Royal Adelaide Hospital project.
9 years on, he's a member of the Australian Earthquake Engineering Society technical committee, the AWCI technical committee, and a member of Standards Australia committee BD 006-11 (responsible for the content of AS 1170.4).
